As with any new process, change can often be difficult for many people. We anticipate this may be the case during the transition to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU). It is important to keep in mind that the ultimate goal is to streamline payment processing for added convenience to all customers.
If you have been paying child support directly to the Orange County Department of Child Support Services (OCDCSS):
You should now send your payments directly to the SDU.Sending payments to the local child support agency may results in accumulation of interest to your account as additional time will be necessary to forward your payment to the SDU.
If child support is deducted from your wages:
If your child support payment is withheld from your paycheck, your employer will now be sending your payments to the SDU. All California employers will receive a notice from the SDU instructing them of such. We recommend you verify with your employer if they are aware of the new payment location. You may continue to check the status of payments 24hrs a day by calling (714) 541-7600.
As California shifts payment processing to the SDU, every effort will be made to process and issue payments as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed about any other changes through future notices. During this transition, we ask for your patience and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
